Of Counsel- Susan Hays relocated to Austin in 2013, where she focuses on appellate matters in Texas and federal courts. Susan’s extensive legal experience includes practicing law with several prominent Texas law firms. In recognition of Susan’s work, she has been repeatedly selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers magazine, a listing of prominent and top up-and-coming attorneys in each state.

She has more than thirty published opinions covering substantive issues ranging from securities fraud to civil rights.

Susan has extensive experience in government affairs, having served as a legislative aide for Elliott Naishtat of the Texas House of Representatives and as a briefing attorney for Justice Rose Spector of the Supreme Court of Texas

She has provided ethics counsel to judges, candidates, and officeholders and created and implemented strategies for legislative advocacy. 
Crisis management is a particular strength whether handling high profile litigation or advising clients in dealing with media outlets whether local or national, print, broadcast or social media. She has appeared on Anderson Cooper, Larry King, and other national broadcast outlets along with innumerable local outlets. She has also been quoted in the New York Times along with other national, regional and local print media.

Susan’s community involvement includes membership in the Texas Trial Lawyers Association; the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association; the Dallas Bar Association (Co-Chair, Pro Bono Committee); the Special Subcommittee on the Implementation of Family Code Chapter 33 to the Rules Advisory Committee to the Texas Supreme Court; the Texas Democracy Foundation; Jane’s Due Process, Inc. (co-founder, Board member and past President); and the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation (Advisory Board).
